Toddler

Our loving and language enriched toddler (1 and 2 years old) community will meet the needs of growing toddlers. At The Montessori School your toddler will be given opportunities to develop basic motor coordination, independence and language skills. Our trained and caring Montessori teachers will be able to adjust to your toddlers' needs as they experience their first contact with other children and learn to participate in a cooperative group.

Preschool

The Montessori preschool classroom flourishes under the guidance of a Montessori directress in a "prepared environment". During the formative years (between three and six), children easily learn the skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic which they find fascinating.

Activities in the preschool classroom include "practical life" (cooking, manners, personal care...), early language and number work, introduction to cultures and geography, art and music activities, Spanish, botany, and zoology.

A Montessori preschool education develops a creative, caring, confident child where learning is fun.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten year is the culminating year of our preschool program. Kindergarten students continue working each morning on their individual lesson plans as well as socializing with and mentoring younger classmates. As leaders in the classroom; kindergarteners enjoy privileges that come with being the oldest and most experienced students.

In the afternoons, the kindergarten students follow a curriculum designed especially for them. In addition they enjoy field trips, Physical Education, Music, and Spanish.

Elementary

Our elementary program provides a challenging learning environment designed to stimulate curiosity and support moral, physical, and intellectual development.

This warm and exciting educational environment features a hands-on, experimental approach to learning. This enables the student to move from simple to complex tasks, and from concrete to abstract ideas, whether in math, science, language or any other area. The elementary students continue their Spanish and Music studies along with Physical Education.

The student leaves the Montessori elementary program with the self-image of a capable learner and contributor, and with an optimistic vision of his or her own future.

Middle School

The middle school program continues offering the student self-paced studies in language, math, and science, while incorporating group studies such as literature and history. Students work on their lesson plans throughout the morning and then have a leisurely lunch followed by a free period.

Their afternoon time is spent in group studies which include Fine Arts, Physical Education, Music, Spanish, and Community Service. At the end of the day the students work together in committee style to care for the classroom, plan field trips, and organize social outings.

After school (3:00 - 4:30) various seasonal sports are offered. These may include: bowling, disc golf, and archery.

After School

The school day officially ends at 3:00, but students who stay for extended hours are cared for by school-day staff and several college students until closing at 5:45.

The preschool children play outside from 2:30 until they are picked up, allowing them lots of free play time. They are offered a snack during this time. There are also organized games for those who want to join in. If the weather is extreme, the children play inside the classrooms with special "rainy day" activities.

Kindergarten and elementary students also go outside at 2:30 for recess with their friends. These students have the option of signing up for several Studio Programs. These programs include: swim lessons, drawing, crafts, computer, chess, sewing, etc. Students who stay past 4:00 pm can attend Study Hall from 4:00 to 4:45 pm.

Studio Program

Our Studio program offers a variety of after school activities for our students. All programs are designed to help busy parents.
